Blackburn with Darwen

Blackburn with Darwen Educational Psychology Team successfully completed its first cohort of ELSA training during 2012-13.  This first cohort of 13 ELSAs has now begun attending half-termly group supervision sessions. Further cohorts of training are planned for future years. Blackburn with Darwen is using the original 5 day model of training from the ELSA Trainers' Manual and subsequently providing the loss and bereavement module which is availlable to other school staff as well.
We are delighted that schools value emotional literacy support highly enough to commission places on this programme for their staff, and we are looking forward to developing a supportive peer group of ELSAs as well as providing the training input and facilitating the supervision.  We are also working in partnership with Blackburn College University Centre, who are able to offer credits at undergraduate level for those ELSAs wishing to pursue a related academic assignment.
There are currently 10 ELSAs accredited, their accreditation being dependant upon continuing to attend supervision.
