ELSA has only recently begun in North Somerset, with the first cohort of LSAs receiving their five days training in June and July 2010. It is one of several projects being funded through the Targeted Mental Health in Schools grant and all of those trained are currently working in TaMHS schools within the local authority. Termly clinical supervision sessions are planned for the ELSAs between September 2010 and March 2011 (the end of the TaMHS project period). In addition to the training itself, the impact of the ELSA programme on those pupils involved will also be evaluated as part of the TaMHS project. It is hoped that the success of the ELSA initiative will enable it to be rolled out to a wider number of schools across North Somerset.
